Branch Manager

 REPORTS TO: General Manager

 

 JOB PURPOSE

The branches are relatively small but have huge growth potential. The Branch Manager will manage the day to day running of the branch, its’ business and is responsible for total branch performance, maximizing income and profit from a range of products and services and in addition will be required to manage and develop a small staff complement.Branch managers are practically in-charge of everything related to business operations; they often have hands-on approach in making sure their branch performs as expected. They plan, implement, and manage areas of responsibility. Providing sound leadership for the branch they usually work with General Manager’s or directors to make sure their operation is according to the expectations of the head office

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsibilities will include full financial responsibility and administration of branch. This will include planning, organizing, co-ordination and control of the branch and all its inventory functions.

  • Above average sales leadership, management excellence, and operational expertise will enable the successful applicant to create an exceptional customer experience and expansion of the client base.

  • To increase revenue and profitability through the achievement of business and personal targets

  • In conjunction with the Managing Director, the setting and reviewing of office and personal targets

  • Implementing agreed business plans

  • Ensuring business is compliant and adhering to regulations

  • Assessing sales reports

  • Training, Mentoring, Mediating, Motivating employees

  • Meeting targets and deadlines

  • Ensuring the company make profits

  • Budgeting

  • Enforcing safety measures

  • Handle all the issues relating at the branch.

  • Recommend changes, enforce company protocols.

  • Managers who run a branch, work or implement strategies to increase productivity and meet sales targets

  • Stay abreast of competing markets, development, building, etc. in the community and surrounding areas. Contact contractors/developers etc. in pursuit of business.

  • Maintain contact and friendly relationships with customers and suppliers, building a favorable company image. Resolve problems and complaints as they arise.

  • Direct and coordinate counter and outside sales (if applicable) efforts. Assist in account development. Direct sales program to develop new markets. Make joint calls with salesmen as needed.

  • Successfully resolve customer issues timely and professionally.

  • Maintain positive attitude towards customers and associates by being friendly and courteous. Provide customer assistance as needed.

  • Continuously update product knowledge

  • Direct warehouse operations. Maintain necessary inventory levels, order materials, route deliveries and pickups

  • Manages workflow to assist staff in balancing priorities, providing backup support if needed and otherwise ensuring that all work is accomplished with an appropriate sense of urgency

  • Through management decisions, communication and behavior, creates a culture and a team that works together to meet customer needs and achieve desired results.

  • Anticipates staffing requirements to meet operational needs.

  • Participate in the recruiting and interviewing process of new employees.

  • Oversee training as well as identify and foster development opportunities for all branch personnel as required or needed.

  • Periodically evaluates the performance of branch personnel, develop goals and objectives. Provide both formal and informal feedback on a regular basis.

  • Ensure policies and procedures are communicated and followed.

  • Promote an environment of empowerment, respect, and trust while holding team members accountable for their actions.

  • Any additional duties as required by the Line Manager
 ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ensure that overall branch performance is at a high level and facilitate continuous improvement and personal growth while supporting the company goals, mission, and vision

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILSS
  • Matric
  • Driver’s Licence (no endorsements)
  • Relevant Tertiary education i.e. Business Management diploma/degree
  • Minimum 5 years retail management and/or sales management experience
  • Understanding of principle of sound business practice
  • Advanced proficiency with windows PC navigation and software including Excel and Word (SAP advantageous)
  • Flexibility of working hours and Travelling
  • Knowledge of the Motor/Mining industry
