Electrical Harness Engineer

 Reports to:

Divisional Manager

  Job Purpose
The Engineer is responsible for the overall Technical performance of the Branch through a fine balance of hands-on application of technical skills and effective strategic planning, leading the company towards profitable growth and operational success. Other responsibilities include directing and coordinating the overall workflow of the technical activities of the business unit from a high-level perspective. This will include assisting in managing the day-to-day administration and managing operations of the technical activities of the business unit as well as its interrelations with other functional units within the group and externally at both a customer and supplier level.

To provide technical leadership by practicing transparency, ensuring effective communication and maintaining professional and good business relationships between all stakeholders, internal and external to the company – overall adherence to Good Governance.

The Engineer is the main technical link between the customer (internal and external), the supplier's and Harness Pro


  • Receive and analyse new drawings - determine special requirements ie. Equipment, tooling or component and testing specifications etc.
  • Confirm new customer requests if within our scope of supply
  • Assist in BOM creation - Verify and approve all BOMS created by BOM administrator/ Costing
  • Determine/ design an assembly or manufacturing process (PPS)
  • Create a Works instructions for Production
  • Approval of BOM and drawing changes
  • Provide training and guidance - for production and quality
  • Inspect installations and observe operations to ensure compliance with design and equipment specifications, quality and safety standards
  • Product and process validation: create and maintain wiring diagrams, parts list and electrical harness drawings.
  • Prepares and validates manufacturing process layouts.
  • Assures product quality by designing electrical testing methods; testing finished products and system capabilities
  • Keep equipment operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting repair service
  • Keep current with the latest technical innovations in electrical engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other directly related technical field.
  • Extensive experience in Harness Electrical Engineering field
  • Understanding of the various Wiring harness manufacturing industry standards: Military, Aerospace, Rail
  • Experience with electrical harness routing and installation requirements
  • Experience/knowledge with working on the Vesys, Auto cad or similar software systems
  • Familiar with the various EN Standards for harness manufacturing
